In British English, a shirt is more specifically a garment with a collar, sleeves with cuffs, and a full vertical opening with buttons. A shirt can also be worn with a necktie under the shirt collar. The shirt was an item of clothing that only men could wear as underwear, until the twentieth century. The shirt sometimes had frills at the neck or cuffs.

Ikkat Blouse

Ikat is a technique which is used for creating ikkat blouse pattern in textiles that means dying on the yarns prior to the weaving of the fabric. In ikat the resist is formed by binding individual yarns or bundles of yarns with a tight wrapping applied in the desired pattern. The yarns are then dyed. The bindings may then be altered to create a new pattern and the yarns dyed again with another colour. This process may be repeated multiple times to produce elaborate, multicolored patterns.

When the dyeing is finished all the bindings are removed and the yarns are woven into cloth. In other resist-dyeing techniques such as tie-dye and batik the resist is applied to the woven cloth, whereas in ikat the resist is applied to the yarns before they are woven into cloth. Because the surface design is created in the yarns rather than on the finished cloth, in ikat both fabric faces are patterned.

Handkerchief

A handkerchief is a form of a kerchief or bandanna, typically a hemmed square of thin fabric or paper which can be carried in the pocket or handbag, and which is intended for personal hygiene purposes such as wiping one's hands or face, or blowing one's nose. A handkerchief is also sometimes used as a purely decorative accessory in a suit pocket; it is then called a pocket square. It is also an important accessory in many folkdances in many regions like the Balkans and the Middle East an example of a folkdance using handkerchiefs is Kalamatianos.

Handkerchiefs can be made of cotton, cotton-synthetic blend, synthetic fabric or silk.  Handkerchiefs are also used as an impromptu way to carry around small items when a bag or basket is unavailable. They could also serve as a substitute for a bandage over a small injury. In the United kingdom, the habit of wearing a handkerchief with tied corners on one's head at the beach has become a seaside postcard stereotype.

Ladies Salwar Suit

The Ladies Salwar Suit consists of a long shirt or tunic called the Kameez, worn over a pant like clothing, called a Salwar, also spelled as Shalwar. The whole ensemble along with a long scarf like over-wear, called the dupatta, is known as Salwar Kameez. Salwars are trousers which are atypically wide at the waist but which narrow to a cuffed bottom. They are held up by a drawstring or elastic belt, which causes them to become pleated around the waist. The pants can be wide and baggy, or they can be cut quite narrow, on the bias.

Salwars have been traditionally worn in a wide region which includes Eastern Europe, West Asia, Central Asia, and South Asia. The Kameez is a long shirt or tunic.  The kameez may have a European-style collar, a Mandarin-collar, or it may be collarless; in the latter case, its design as a women's garment is similar to a kurta. The combination garment is sometimes called salwar kurta, salwar suit. When women wear the shalwar-kameez in some regions, they usually wear a long scarf or shawl called a dupatta around the head or neck. 

Dupatta & Stole

A dupatta & stole is traditional Indian scarf that is long. It is primarily draped over both shoulders to cover the bosom and the head. However, with changing fashion trends, the dupatta is draped over one shoulder like a stole. A graduation or academic stole is a decorative vestment worn by students who are members of various organizations for the purpose of denoting outstanding achievements in academics. Stoles may also be used to indicate membership in a professional organization.

The dupatta with time gradually evolved and went on from being a fabric for practical purposes to something that complimented the overall dressing of a woman such as coordinating suits. The billowing length has been reduced from two and a half metres to around two metres.
